Our story

One body, gathered from every church in the Upstate.

Upstate Jesus People started with a simple question: what would happen if Christians from every church in the Upstate stopped waiting for their own church to start something, and served the community together?

Not a new church. Not a replacement for yours. A shared place where volunteers from different congregations, ages and backgrounds can find real needs and meet them, as the hands and feet of Jesus.

A small white country church at dusk

What holds it together

Four pillars.

The Body

Different congregations, same Jesus. Different gifts, same Spirit. The unity we have in him is worth showing the world.

“Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.”

1 Corinthians 12:27

Unity

We don't ask churches to agree on every doctrine. We ask them to serve and worship together.

“How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity!”

Psalm 133:1

Hands and Feet

Our community needs more than programs. It needs people willing to show up and carry the love of Jesus where it is needed most.

“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

Matthew 25:40

The Generation

Kids, teens, parents and grandparents serve side by side, and young people are given room to lead.

“The things you have heard me say entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.”

2 Timothy 2:2

how we work

Jesus is the center

Everything we do points to him.

Unity over uniformity

Many traditions, one Lord.

Action over performance

Service is part of worship.

Volunteers, not staff

The people own this.

Free, always

No cost to join, serve or partner.

Local churches first

We strengthen them. We never replace them.

Where this is going

Listen, serve, gather.

Now

Listen

A community needs survey across churches, neighborhoods and city offices in the Upstate.

Next

Serve

Cross-church serve teams sent to the needs the survey shows are biggest.

Then

Gather

Outdoor worship nights where the churches that served together worship together.
